Playing with Textures

Always thought it might be a cool idea to color a character in textures. The only problem is that when the character is in motion the texture will either flicker or be stationary as if it were matted in. Have to visualize if that will work or be too visually chaotic. The coloring of the textures will help reduce either effect, but may have to do a motion test to be sure. (If I go down this road at all.)

Another Layer

Added a sun effect to my new design. Not sure I am going this direction and I will not finalize it for another month or so. Going to design slow and try several variations. This direction is not necessarily very innovative. I have seen it. The question remains if there is a way to enhance this type of design in order to make it original.

Oldies

Here are two frames from the first commercial campaign I worked on at Bajus Jones. These should scare Todd, HA. It was a series of commercials for Merchant's National Bank. It obviously was a pretty unique style and time consuming. Each frame was inked on vellum with a quill. The images look oddly dated, always amazes me the something only 30 years ago looks like it was done in the 1930s.

Plan B

As many of you know I have been trying to get a website up for Horrendous Fiasco for some time now. Unfortunately, several people who had offered to work on the support materials have just been too busy to work on it. My little Hula Girl sequence must be put on hold briefly while music is composed. Some of the site still needs some actionscript and so forth and so on. Such is life in the fast lane. So instead of sitting on my hands while I wait, I have decided to get going on a simple place holder for the main page. I am going to do a small aquarium sequence, little Gav fishies swimming along while tiny bubbles gurgle and pop. Started on the design today, will have the whole thing done Friday. Quick down and dirty. (and still had time to finish some other work in studio). Color very preliminary.

Da Vinci
I produced this open for Geomedia, out of San Antonio. Obviously, emulating the great Leonardo, (not Clyde Crashcup's assistant). It was a pretty interesting project for one major reason, doing Da Vinci was much easier in this digital age. Being able to layer, color, and affect the drawings made the project easy to animate compared to the old world animation ways of my not so distant past. The paper was able to remain consistent and did not add to the jitter of the drawings, something that would have been difficult to maintain using old animation techniques.

Horrendous Fiasco Logo-Animated
This is the logo (looped for your viewing pleasure) that will be used for the web and any animated title I may need in the future. There is going to be a future right?

Horrendous Fiasco Animated Man

This is a design that I am working on for the Horrendous Fiasco website. This is a character that has been around my head for a long time. Looking forward to animating this "Voodoo Eyeball Man" in Flash.
