Time Code...backgrounds

Donna Grillo

Michael Palmer
Pictured are two paintings I have done recently that will serve as backgrounds for the date portraits that I am producing for my MFA painting thesis.  I have several more to go and will be cranking like a rusted jack-in-the-box, to get all the paintings completed.  I will be posting a ton in the next month or so.  The paintings below are for Donna Grillo and Michael Palmer.  Donna's is a whimsical background somewhat based in the cartoon art that I have done all my life.  Michael's is a heavily layered and primary, but hopefully peaceful and calm.  The subject chose the palette to work in and now the dates will be layered on.  That business will be produced in the printmaking lab at SCAD.

New Web

Have been working on the update of the Horrendous Fiasco site.  This is a screenshot of an animation that will replace the death clock open.

Divide and Holy Crap

Will be splitting up my "Fine art" from my Horrendous art soon.  It is necessary just to keep my huge head from twisting in the wind and confusing the issue of this blog.  I have been on a roller coaster ride for almost 2 years and am just settling in to the prospect of getting going on all fronts.  I have had an incredible journey over the last two years, moving to Beantown, working nearly full time, going to Grad school and trying to organize a very unorganized life.  It starts tomorrow.

Getting back to a Damn Pencil

It has really been a long time since I have just sketched with a pencil (using a Wacom tablet almost exclusively at work).  I have found that I am a bit rusty and that I really miss the variety of feel and moment so easily generated.  So tired of the computers rendition of a line, and then tired of fixing a simple line electronically impaired.  Hopefully the momentum with continue and the rust will fall.

It starts with 4.

I have been busy over the last couple of days painting myself silly.  These paintings represent an experiment.  Trying to hide "hand" using non-typical ways of slushing through the pigment piles and creating suitable backgrounds for what will be "text" in the foreground.  These paintings are the beginnings of my Thesis work....more on that coming up in the coming months that are coming near.

Here are some character pages

March marches forward

I am just about to finish up a Freelance gig and about to embark on some exciting stuff.  Finally.  Don't get me wrong, work is work and money is a wonderful thing, but there are times one must focus on the big move forward.  Watch out, here I come!

Hello 2012

Yikes, have two months gone by all ready?  I have been swamped, which is a good and bad thing.  But I see the light and the tunnel no longer contains a train.  Hello 2012, time to get things a going.
